Taltarni Blanc de Blancs 2016 & 2015 Vintage

What is Blanc de Blancs?
It translates to ‘white of whites’ and means the wine has entirely been made from white grapes. Most likely for sparkling wines you’ll find it’s Chardonnay – but not always.
This sample bottle (thank you!) of the Taltarni 2016 Vintage Blanc de Blancs is made from 100% Chardonnay.
But not just any old Chardy grapes, it’s made from grapes from a mix of Chardonnay grapes from the Pyrenees, Adelaide Hills and Tasmania (it’s a multi-region blend!). It retails for a wallet-friendly $26.
In the glass it’s a pale straw yellow shade. It tickles the nose with spiced apple and pear notes with a bit of salty air/saline in there too. On the palate it’s citrus driven, dry and incredibly moreish. Very yummy!
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.

Christmas time is synonymous with bubbles am I right?
Thanks to the lovely team at Taltarni Vineyards, I recently received some bubbly samples to taste and it’s safe to say they’ve got me in the festive mood. The Taltarni range has recently undergone a new packaging design.
This 2015 Blanc de Blancs is made from 100% Chardonnay from the Pyrenees (VIC) and is made the same way champagne is made (don’t forget we shouldn’t call this champagne as it’s not from the champagne region in France). This one retails for $26 which I think is really decent considering the vintage and how well it goes down.
On the eye it’s a pale straw shade. While on the nose it’s floral and elegant and made me think of citrus wafer biscuits and freshly cut apples. In the mouth it’s smooth dry and delicious! Think royal gala apples and citrus. Uber refreshing and in fact it’d make a pretty delicious Christmas breakfast bubbly!
