Riposte ‘The Dagger’ 2018 Pinot Noir

This bottle of Riposte ‘The Dagger’ 2018 Pinot Noir from the Adelaide Hills came in my Customised Wine Plan sample box from Wine Selectors last month. This is a new subscription service where you choose the grape varieties and wine styles that you love to be delivered at a frequency you choose. It’s a great way to drink what you love, but also try wines from new producers.

I hadn’t come across this Pinot by Tim Knappstein and Son before, so I was excited to get stuck in. The Knappstein name has been connected with the winemaking industry in South Australia since 1894. From what I read via the online grape vine, at $18 a bottle this Pinot is a real steal.

Mr Spittoon and I enjoyed it snuggled up on the couch recently and let’s just say the bottle’s contents seemed to disappear very quickly, almost like magic 😉

Here are my notes on it:

It’s a light ruby red colour in the glass. The nose is fresh and makes your mouth-water with notes of plums, vanilla and violets. While in the mouth, juicy cranberries and black cherries dominate for me with a hint of smooth tannin. Very easy drinking.
