Logan Wines 2017 Chardonnay – Orange, NSW
Chardonnay fans, this one is for you! Logan Wines in Orange, NSW has long been a champion of Chardonnay. In fact, winemaker Peter Logan, declares the varietal makes ‘the greatest wine in the world’.
I think what makes Chardonnay so exciting, is that there’s not just one type of Chardonnay. There is sparkling chardonnay, there’s big, bold oaky chardonnay and there is light and bright Chardonnay. Chardonnay can also age and develop well in the cellar under the right conditions too.
I was super excited to try this sample I received (thank you Logan Wines!) of the Logan 2017 Chardonnay. My parents have actually visited the cellar door in Orange and my Dad has a fair few Logan reds in his cellar, so it’s safe to say my family are big fans. That may also have something to do with my brothers name being Logan as well 😉
Mr Spittoon is also a huge fan of Chardonnay, so sitting down with a bottle of Chardonnay is definitely our idea of a good time. Here are the notes we jotted down while trying this one:
It’s a pale honeyed yellow shade in the glass. On the nose it has a bouquet full of smooth oak, fresh orchard fruits, citrus peel and a lick of butter. In the mouth it has a lovely depth of flavour yet is fresh and incredibly refreshing. Think orange citrus, peach and a sprinkling of nuts.
This bottle was sent to me directly from Logan Wines as a sample. I was under no obligation to post about it.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
