Twill and Daisy 2019 Pinot Shiraz – South Australia
I do love an interesting blend of grapes! Which is why I was intrigued by this red sample I received from Pure Wine Co in South Australia (thank you!).
It’s made from Pinot Noir and Shiraz – two traditional grape varieties but it’s not typical to see them blended together. It retails for $18 and can be found via twillanddaisy.com.au
Twill and Daisy focus on making “Refreshing contemporary wine from Australia, thanks to minimal intervention”. I love how the name ties into their minimal intervention approach too: “The name was inspired by the wild paper daisies that grow across Australia without intervention. Known for their delightful displays, they are low maintenance and don’t take much to shine, be colourful and elicit joy.”
We were looking forward to this wine sparking a bit of joy for us…
We found it a bright garnet red colour in the glass. The nose made me think of candied berries and cherries, with a spritz of orange peel and a hint of florals. While in the mouth Mr Spittoon enjoyed it very much from the berries to the savoury spicy notes and the delicious dry finish.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
