Windfall Wine Estate 2018 Single Handed Chardonnay
Oh hello there Miss Chardonnay!
This beauty is a sample we kindly received from Windfall Wine Estate (thank you!) in WA’s Geographe wine region.
Julie Williams and husband Phil Hutton are the duo behind the brand and they place a large importance on sustainable and natural farming methods. In fact for the last 7 years they have followed the principles of biodynamic wine farming.
This 2018 ‘Single Handed’ Chardonnay retails for $32. The grapes were grown in the Great Southern region and the wine spent 9 months in French oak barrels. And needless to say it didn’t last long unopened in our house!
In the glass it’s a pale buttery shade. On the nose it made me think of spiced melon, florals, crisp pears and citrus rind with a whiff of vanilla cashews. While in the mouth it has an incredibly lush texture across the palate and delicious flavours of fresh stonefruit and citrus coming through. There’s also a nice nutty hint on the finish.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
