Houghton Wines 2018 Reserve Chardonnay
Have you come across the new Reserve range from WA’s Houghton Wines yet?
The range includes a Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and a Chardonnay – all retailing for $15 (available at independent and major retailers like Dan Murphy’s).
Wallet-friendly and if the Chardonnay is anything go by – pretty darn tasty too!
The embellished gold swan on the label is a nod to Houghton’s origins in the Upper Swan region.
The grapes for this Chardy are sourced from the Swan District, Margaret River and Pemberton in WA.
We recently tucked into this sample bottle and jotted down these notes in between our mmmm’s:
It’s a lemon-lime colour in the glass. Instantly the nose made me think of melon wrapped in prosciutto with a hint of floral musk on the side and some buttered crackers. While in the mouth it’s mellow and creamy thanks to the French oak used with a nice crisp mid palate and delicious notes of apricots and stonefruit coming through alongside some fresh orange and lime nuances. Great value.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
