Terranu 2015 Shiraz – Barossa Valley
I love an informative back label. While I know there is so much information on the web these days, it’s also nice having great information right there on the wine bottle.
I love this back label on this sample bottle of 2015 Barossa Valley Shiraz which I was was kindly sent from Terranu Wines because it:
- Shows me exactly where the Barossa Valley region is in Australia
- Tells me why it’s special (only 6,900 bottles were made, so 575 cases)
- And it has the typical information regarding standard drinks, alcohol percentage (this one’s a big boy at 15% alc!)

My Tasting Note
It’s a deep, nearly inky plum colour in the glass. While on the nose it’s quite savoury with earthy, mushroom-like aromas alongside blackberry and pepper spice. It’s definitely juicy and ripe. In the mouth it’s super smooth with well-balanced tannins and fruit structure with a nice long, flavoursome and persistent finish.
My match
I should of really matched this with a hearty red meat dish, however I opted for the latest TV series I’m watching (True Blood) in bed with an overly large wine glass 😉
