Any excuse for a wine and I’ll find it 😉 Which is why I am such a big advocate for all the special wine days throughout the year. One of these special wine holidays is ‘Open That Bottle Night’ (OTBN) and today I want to give you a bit more context about this significant date.
What is Open That Bottle Night?
It’s the perfect excuse to open that bottle you have been holding onto for so long. You have probably been waiting for the ‘perfect’ special occasion, but every time there is a special occasion, you chicken out. This is the night to open that bottle. Someone lovingly made that delicious grape juice for you to enjoy, so enjoy it! Open That Bottle Night is the perfect reason to.
How did OTBN start?
It was back in 2000 when the first OTBN happened. Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher – a wife and husband team who are journalists, authors and wine critics officially wanted to make it an annual occasion to open a significant bottle of wine and to share its story.
When is OTBN?
OTBN happens every year on the last Saturday of February. The next OTBN will be year on Saturday the 26h of February 2022.
Don’t forget when posting to social media to use the official hashtag: #openthatbottlenight.
