Hirsch Hill Estate 2015 Shiraz Yarra Valley
Tasted: 4th June 2020
Introducing the Hirsch Hill Estate 2015 Shiraz from Victoria’s Yarra Valley. Mr Spittoon and I recently cracked into this sample bottle (thank you Hirsch!) once the bub was in bed and it went down incredibly easily!
Hirsch Hill has been operating since 1998 and are family owned. You can visit them in the Yarra Valley, however visits are by appointment only.
The winemaker for this hand harvested Shiraz was Rob Dolan. Here are my notes:
It’s a garnet shade in the glass with notes of fresh blackberries, savoury herbs and dark chocolate covered liquorice coming through on the nose. While in the mouth it has a silky texture and tannins with plenty of yummy raspberry and cherry fruit coming through. The flavour really lasts in the mouth long after you swallow.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

In the glass, it’s a pretty shade of garnet. The nose is really interesting, it’s got some meatiness to it, think salami spice intertwined with black fruits. In the mouth, its juicy, vibrant and packs a spicy punch on the finish. Yum! Talk about the ultimate BBQ wine.
