Rusty Mutt 2018 Rocky Ox GSM (Grenache, Shiraz, Mataro)
Seriously, who can resist a wine with doggies ? on the label? Not me!
So what’s the significance of the dogs on this bottle of small batch Rusty Mutt wine? Well the winemaker, Scott Heidrich, was born in the year of the ‘Metal Dog’ according to Chinese astrology. Rusty Mutt is his passion project as he currently is the senior winemaker for another McLaren Vale company.
A big thanks to Scott for sending this sample of his ‘Rocky Ox’ 2018 GSM over to taste. The ‘GSM’ stands for Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro – the 3 grapes which make up the blend of this wine.

We found it a bright garnet red colour in the glass. Notes of plums, cherries raspberries, baking spice, tobacco and mocha come through on the nose for us. While in the mouth it has a juicy fruit burst with a hint of pepper and there’s some dark chocolate covered berries in there too. Scrumptious!
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
