Rota Villa Castellazzo 27 Via Romani Lambrusco
This is my cat in his teepee with a bottle of sparkling red wine 🙂
Please note: No cats were harmed in the writing of this tasting note.
I picked this Sparkling Red for this months #thetcwineclub box because I’m becoming a bit of a bubbly red fiend. Have any of the club members cracked into this one yet?!
Made in Emilia-Romagna, Italy, this Dario Rota 27 Lambrusco 2017 went down a treat. In Italy, you’ll find Lambrusco typically teamed with charcuterie & cured meats. Like Riesling, a lot of people think that Lambrusco’s are all sweet, but they’re not. This is a dry, rather savoury Lambrusco.
We actually teamed it up with some Soleo Cuvée Chocolate which went down a treat.
It’s a ruby red colour in the glass with a lovely delicate red mousse on top. The nose makes me think of red and black berries, spice, blue cheese, melon wrapped in prosciutto and leather. It’s jam-packed with vibrancy and deliciousness. In the mouth, it’s super smooth and approachable. Mr Spittoon said it reminded him of those old fashioned smokers lollies whilst I really enjoyed the refreshing cranberry infused acidity. I’ll drink this one again for sure.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
