Dormilona 2020 Yokel Rose
We’re all class over here at the TC HQ.
We recently bought this 2020 Rosé from Dormilona in WA.
Yokel is a Western Swamp Tortoise which is native to the waterways of the Swan River and is currently the most critically endangered reptile in Australia. For every bottle of Yokel sold, Dormilona will give a dollar to the ‘Friends of the Western Swamp Tortoise’ iniative and the breeding program at the Perth Zoo.
Which is why I bought 6 bottles, It’s for a good cause right.
This Rosé is made from Grenache grapes from Vino Italia in Perth’s Swan Valley. I love these notes from the Dormilona website:
“Hand harvested, detested & left on skins for a day ,then basket pressed straight to amphora & oak. Once dry, blended & aged in a large concrete egg called Bacon. Simply racked to bottle with a kiss of a sulphur.”
We found it a pale strawberry colour in the glass with amble red fruits, lip licking citrus and florals rising from the glass. In the mouth I fell in love with the strawberry and cherry flavours. Balanced and silky. So. Darn. Yummy.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
