Oakover 2019 Cabernet Merlot

A big congrats to all the Swan Valley Wine Show award winners last week. This $16 pocket rocket from Oakover picked up a silver.
A big thanks to Oakover for sharing this sample bottle with me. It was a great way to finish the day after* work and baby TC was in bed.
*I may or may not have actually had a sip (glass) prior to the above 2 being done #workingmumlife.
This 2019 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. It’s a great, approachable and easy drinking style for midweek drinking in my opinion. Some Cab Merlot blends can age extremely well for great lengths of time however this one has been made in a drink now style, which is exactly what I did.
I believe this one is made from Margaret River grapes too. Do let me know if that’s incorrect Oakover.
In the glass I found it a juicy plum red shade. On the nose it smells like you’re in a forest, think berries, moss and bark. Whimsically beautiful smelling (if that makes any sense to you). In the mouth it’s smooth and juicy with a dry finish. For $16, it’s a bargain.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
