Curtis Cavaliere 2016 Shiraz
Did you know Shiraz is the most widely planted and best known red grape variety in Australia? But not only that, Australia is the home to the oldest Shiraz vines still in production in the world with vineyards dating back to 1843! Stats via wineaustralia.com.au.
I was spoilt by Curtis Family Vineyards who recently sent me this #sample of their 2016 Cavaliere Shiraz from McLaren Vale (SA). The Shiraz vines for this wine are 60 years old!
The Kate Spade bag wasn’t included. Mr Spittoon actually got that for me a couple of years ago without any help picking it out – he has good taste!
My tasting note: It’s a deep purple-red colour in the glass with sweet and smoky notes on the nose alongside hints of berries and a whiff of apricots. In the mouth, it’s nutty, smooth, berry-filled and has fine elegant black tea tannins. A joy to drink!
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #tcweekdaywine
