Champagne Besserat De Bellefon Bleu Brut
We celebrated Baby TC’s 1/2 year birthday recently. Where have those 6-months gone?!
Naturally as all good parents do, we popped him into bed for the night and cracked the Champagne to celebrate.
We picked up this Champagne Besserat De Bellefon Bleu Brut from Dan Murphy’s and immediately the box and bottle gave me a boating vibe. It was $74.
What I found super interesting about this Champagne is that “The hallmark of the house is the lower than normal pressure that the wine is kept at under cork. This lower than normal pressure does not reduce the effervescence, but softens it, allowing the wine to partner better with food. “ – says the Dan Murphy’s website”.
Interesting! It’s safe to say this mummy and daddy definitely enjoyed it while Baby TC slept soundly.
In the glass there’s plentiful bubbles and it has a hint of peach in the colour. On the nose it made me think of milk arrowroot biccies, nuts and citrus. While in the mouth it’s fine with quietly erupting bubbles. We really enjoyed it and would buy it again.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
Hi Una,
Oh that is such a shame – I wonder if the bottle was not kept well by the retailer before you bought it. As mentioned above, we really enjoyed it. However everyone’s tastes are different, so maybe it just wasn’t for you.
It’s always good to hear other people’s opinions though 🙂 Maybe give Louis Roederer NV a go next time, same price point and it’s one of my favourites!
Cheers,
Casey
We were very disappointed in this champagne. Tasted more like a very pale cider. None of those wonderful yeasty aromas I come to expect from a good french champagne. Would definitely not buy again!
