Margan Vineyards 2019 Albarino – Hunter Valley
Tasted on 20-10-20
We’ve made a few Spanish omelette’s in our time but they haven’t been anything like the Chef Miguel Maestre ‘5 minute Spanish Omelette’which uses a bag of lime & black pepper potato chips!
The recipe and this matching Margan Vineyards 2019 Albariño is part of the Wine Selectors Chef Collection (6 wines and a Miguel Maestre recipe book for $140). A big thank you for this media pack.

NSW Hunter Valley was the first winemaker to plant and produce the Spanish variety Albariño in Australia.
I love Albariño, it’s such a refreshing zesty wine and this one went incredibly well with the omelette.
In the glass it’s a pale lemon shade with notes of spiced pears, citrus and fresh herbs on the nose. While in the mouth it’s juicy with a nearly syrup like texture accompanied with flavours of fresh peach and pear. It also has a bit of a spicy kick to it. Crisp and dry.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.

As a little preview, this is Mr Spittoon’s birthday month wine and recipe. Margan Vineyard 2019 Albariño from NSW’s Hunter Valley matched with Jewfish with Brassicas, Pippies & Vermouth.
“To highlight its green apple lime splice flavours and crisp, dry palate, chef Thomas Boyd ejected to pair soft, sweet jewfish, delightfully accentuating the wine’s crunchy texture”. Are you drooling yet? I am!
Drool fest aside. Here are our notes on the wine:
It’s a pretty lemon shade in the glass. The nose is full of preserved lime, fresh apples and it’s simply just vibrant. A very alluring nose! In the mouth it’s lovely and dry with plenty of citrus and texture. Delicious!
