Austin’s 2018 Riesling – Moorabool Valley, Geelong
I love Riesling, especially because it’s so food friendly. It’s one of my go-to wines for Asian and summer cuisines. Plus it’s also how’s well with creamy goats cheese.
This 2018 Riesling sample I received comes from Austin’s in the Moorabool Valley in Geelong, VIC (thank you!). It retails for $32 and only 2,600 bottles were made.
Fun fact: I only realised recently that Austin’s also produce 6Ft6 Wines and both ranges are 100% vegan friendly.
We found it a lemon-line colour in the glass. On the nose there’s citrus peel, floral’s and spiced stewed apples/pears coming through. While in the mouth it’s incredibly refreshing with plenty of citrus and licks of pears, pineapple and melon. With all that acidity, this one will develop with age. The Austin’s website says it will cellar up to 2026.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
