The People’s Sessions Lower in Alcohol Rose
I’ve chatted to a few people recently about lower alcohol wines and I’m glad there’s quite a few around to choose from including this The People’s Wine Sessions 2018 Rosé from Hawkes Bay weighing in at 9% alc/vol.
This wine is part of the NZ Lighter Wine initiative. Who kindly sent me this sample last year (thank you!) and the TC tasting panel were only too happy to try it.
From my knowledge it’s made from Merlot grapes in the sunny Hawkes Bay. And the suggested match is a summer salad like a beetroot, feta and walnut salad with balsamic.
In the glass I found it a shiny coral shade. The nose simply makes me feel all summery. There’s berries, citrus and a whiff of savoury spice. While in the mouth there’s plenty of fruit and a nice dry finish. Think crisp apple, mandarin and berries. A real thirst quencher.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
