Windfall Wine Estate Single-Handed 2018 Merlot
It seemed only fitting that we christened our new @the_made_co wine glasses with a downright delicious wine.
A massive thank you to Julie & Phil for sending this sample of their Windfall Wine Estate Single-Handed 2018 Merlot my way! Windfall are located in Western Australia’s Geographe wine region, just south of Perth.
If you’re not yet a serious fan girl or fan boy for Merlot, you will be after trying this. Merlot is a seriously awesome grape variety which is so underrated I find.
Merlot makes an incredible food wine with its ultra smooth texture, lower acidity and fruit forward nature. However it can also really pack a punch with lavish flavours and aromas of plums, black cherries and berries and chocolate.
This perfect pairing for the likes of a Lamb Raghu dish is a deep red velvet colour in the glass. Delicious black fruit jam mixed with black olive tapenade and earthiness notes rise from the glass. While in the mouth it’s rich, opulent and juicy. Going off the tannins, I’d say this one will only improve in the years to come too.
