Trentham Estate ‘The Family’ 2018 Nero d’Avola
Have you come across the new look Trentham Estate ‘The Family’ wine range yet?
I received some samples from the team a few months back (thank you!) and I think they look great. It gives me a nautical meets Gatsby sort of vibe.
The Family range from Trentham focuses on Italian grape varieties. In fact there are 8 wines in the range such as a: Vermentino, Prosecco, Pinot Grigio and this Nero d’Avola
Here’s a little bit more about the Nero d’Avola grape from the Trentham team:
“Sicily is the home of Nero d’Avola where it has been grown for over 500 years and is the most planted variety in the region. The vines are exceedingly tough and thrive in hot dry conditions. The robust nature of the variety and its ability to produce high quality fruit and resulting wine in a hot climate made it a must- have for the Estate’s vineyard. The first vines were planted in 2009.”
Mr Spittoon took charge on this tasting note, let me know how you think he did in the comments:
- Colour: Ruby red
- Bouquet: Vanilla, tobacco, pomegranate
- Palate: Blackberries, subtle tannic structure, cranberries
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
