Toms Cap Subterfuge Chardonnay NV Sparkling
Now that our baby milestone cards have changed to months instead of weeks, it means we’re moving to monthly bottles to celebrate rather than weekly. However we couldn’t give up the habit that quickly which is why we indulged in this bottle of Toms Cap Vineyard ‘Subterfuge’ Chardonnay NV over the weekend which we picked up for $40 from our local Dan Murphy’s.
Toms Cap is a local Gippsland winery which we actually stayed at in Feb last year. They have a handful of lovely cottages on the property as well as a great restaurant which made for a perfect weekend away for us.
We’ve had a couple of bottles of this bubbles over the last few weeks – it goes down a treat. And we actually first tried it 5 or so years ago with family in Melbourne.
In the glass it’s a lemon lime colour with pretty dancing bubbles streaming up from the bottom of the glass. The nose is fresh and crisp with apples & pears but there’s a lick of vanilla slice in there too. In the mouth it’s spritzy as expected and so easy to down. We bought a bottle and went back and bought one a week later, so I think that sums this one up.
