Our family friends in Melbourne introduced us to the Toms Cap Sparkling wine from Gippsland a few years ago. So naturally, we have been wanting to visit the vineyard since we moved to Gippsland a year ago. As they have cottages on the vineyard, we were waiting for a special occasion to make a weekend of it. Blue Gables Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Gris

When we visited the Blue Gables Vineyard cellar door earlier this year they were sold out of this sparkling wine made with Chardonnay and Pinot Gris grapes – I was guttered as I really wanted to try it!

On the 12th day of Christmas, The Wine Gallery sent to me, a bottle of Moondarra Cuvee Maree NV from Gippsland, Victoria. This lucky last bottle in my wine advent calendar topped off the #12winesofchristmas ??

Moondarra Cuvee MareeFun fact about Moondarra: Their Pinot Noir is named ‘Conception’ because the winemaker/owners eldest son was conceived in the middle of the vineyard ?

This bottle of Maree however, is named after his wife. It’s made from predominately Pinot Noir with a touch of Chardonnay. Continue reading
