Castle Rock Estate Porongurup Pinot Noir 2018
Pinot Noir thrives in cool climates like WA’s Great Southern wine region. The region is made up of 5 subregions, has over 50 wineries and is approximately a 4-5 hour drive south of Perth.
A big thanks to the team at greatsouthernwine.org.au for gifting me this bottle of the Castle Rock Estate 2018 Pinot Noir for Christmas. We recently cracked into it and thoroughly enjoyed consuming it!
Established in 1983, Castle Rock Estate is located in the Porongurups subregion of the Great Southern. I’ve had a number of the Castle Rock wines before, so I knew this Pinot was going to be a cracker! Rob Diletti is a fantastic winemaker.
In the glass it’s a pretty velvet red shade. Spiced cherries, mulberry and vanillin oak come through on the nose. It’s perfectly both fruity and savoury. While in the mouth it’s gentle but has a good oomph to it. Wonderful structure and length.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
