Guess what? This is a Sauv Blanc! Fumé Blanc refers to the way this Sauvignon Blanc has been made – with the use of French oak barrels and aging on lees in the barrel.
I received this sample recently (thank you Taltarni Vineyards) and I figured today being International Sauv Blanc Day would be the perfect time to share it with you. Have you tried a Fumé Blanc before?
As mentioned this is 100% Sauv Blanc with the grapes being sourced from both Tasmania (Coal River Valley) and Victoria (Pyrenees).
Here’s what we thought of it:
It’s an enticing hay colour in the glass with a green hue to it. Passionfruit, pineapple, melon and citrus zest aromas leap our of the glass with a subtle hint of vanilla oak. While on the palate those same characteristics flow through alongside a bit of feijoa. It’s fresh and juicy and darn quaffable with its creamy mouthfeel. Yum!
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
