Champagne Devaux Grande Reserve

As we live about 3 hours from Melbourne airport, we typically stay at the Park Royal Melbourne Airport Hotel if we have an early flight. It takes the stress out of worrying about the traffic and being on time for our flight.

G.H Mumm Champagne Blanc de Blancs de Cramant

Christmas Day in Thailand calls for duty-free Champagne. We picked up this bottle of G.H Mumm Champagne Blanc de Blancs at Melbourne airport for about the $150 mark. G.H Mumm Champagne Blanc de BlancsThe limit for bringing alcohol into Thailand is only 1 litre per person, so we definitely were going for quality over quantity.

We also knew in Krabi, where we were going to be spending Christmas Day, that our wine and champagne choices would be pretty low. Continue reading

3drops Blanc de Noir 2017

I have been hanging out to try this brand new Western Australian made sparkling wine for so long now!

3drops Blanc de Noir 2017If you haven’t already heard, this is 3drops first ever sparkling wine. The 3drops Blanc de Noir 2017 is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes from the 2017 vintage. It’s made in the traditional method which means it’s made the same way as champagne is (there are various ways you can make sparkling wines).

If you’re not familiar with 3drops, they are a boutique producer from the Great Southern wine region who produce a range of red, white, rose and now sparkling wines which you can purchase through their website 3drops.com

I recently chatted to Jo, the owner of 3drops who was telling me for the label, they actually had a model pose with a rake to create the stunning image on the bottle. The lady represents ‘femme du monde’ aka the woman of the world.

I really enjoyed this bubbles from its slightly peachy-yellow tone in the glass to its aromas of orange sherbet, fresh strawberries and flaky pastry. In the mouth, it has a wonderfully silky mouthfeel with decent body and length. It’s elegant and beautiful, just like the 3drops brand.

Thank you Jo, for sending over this sample for us to try – Mr Spittoon and I sipped up every last drop 🙂

All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!

Blue Gables Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Gris

When we visited the Blue Gables Vineyard cellar door earlier this year they were sold out of this sparkling wine made with Chardonnay and Pinot Gris grapes – I was guttered as I really wanted to try it!

Blue Gables Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot GrisRecently I came across a bottle of it at The Hunting Ground in Sale for $40 and I couldn’t resist. I have to admit, I thought the $40 price tag was a bit steep initially, however, after trying it, I’ll definitely be buying it again! Continue reading
