Koonara Wines Cape Banks Chardonnay 2019
Hello new release wine! My fellow Chardonnay lovers, this one is for you!
Thank you to Koonara Wines for sharing this sample of their 2019 Cape Banks Chardonnay with us. The grapes are grown in the cool climate of Mount Gambier and it’s vegan friendly, and contains low sulphites and no residual sugar.
For the wine nerds out there:
- 4 months in new French oak Hogshead barrels
- Malolactic fermentation
- Left on lee’s and stirred
I was amazed at how much flavour was packed into this little 100ml bottle – don’t worry the full sized bottles are available on www.koonara.com for $25 or $22.50 if you become a member.
In the glass it has a lovely golden sheen to it. It smells big and bold with creamy vanilla oak nuances alongside tropical notes of fruits like guava and pawpaw. In the mouth it’s so super rounded with lovely citrus acidity that brings a lovely refreshing feeling to the palate. I specifically like the long lingering finish.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
