Hirsch Hill Estate 2016 & 2017 Chardonnay – Yarra Valley
Hirsch Hills 2017 Chardonnay
Tasted on the 16th of May 2020
What’s wrong with this picture?
There’s clearly not enough wine in my glass is what’s wrong with it.. haha!
A big thanks to Hirsch Hill Estate in VIC’s Yarra Valley for sending over this 2017 Chardonnay for us to try. It barely lasted 2 seconds in our house before it ‘had’ to be consumed.
This Chardy was hand harvested and matured on lees for 6 months in French hogsheads (30% new). It retails for $25 and was crafted by winemaker Rob Dolan.
Here’s our notes on it:
It looks like sunshine in the glass. Sweet orchard fruit and oak aromas rise from the glass while on the palate it’s crisp and fresh with a vibrant creamy texture. Think Granny Smith apples and nectarines with a bright citrus note that suggests this one will only improve further in the bottle. Yum!
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.

Hirsch Hills 2016 Chardonnay
Tasted on the 27th of March 2019
I recently received this sample of the Hirsch Hill 2016 Chardonnay from the Hirsch Hill team which went down super quick. What can I say, I just love Chardonnay!
It retails for $20 and is hand harvested on their estate in the Yarra Valley. It spends some time in French oak barrels to build mouthfeel, texture, and complexity.
I found it a pale yellow with a golden tinge on the eye. The nose made me think of honeydew melon, spiced citrus lemon cream and interestingly a whiff of choc orange. In the mouth, it’s full of stone fruit with refreshing acidity and a lovely long creamy lemon finish.
