Grace Farm 2018 Cane Cut Semillon Margaret River
Ripe Semillon is made sweeter on the vine by cutting the canes and allowing the grapes to dehydrate and the sugars to concentrate for 30 days. Hand-picked and pressed into old French puncheons then wild fermented”
^^ Is how this newly released Grace Farm 2018 Cane Cut Semillon is made.
It’s the first time Margaret River producer Grace Farm have used their Semillon to make a dessert wine.
I decided to team this 500ml bottle up with some Szechuan pork dumplings. It was a delicious match which I want again soon!
The wine is a light golden shade with perfect crisp clarity. On the nose it makes me think of preserved lemon, floral perfume, lemongrass and a mineral/chalky-ness. In the mouth, it’s that perfect balance of sweet fruit and acidity. Think honeyed fruit salad and sweet preserved orange/marmalade. $35 a bottle.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
