Hirsch Hill Estate 2015 & 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon
Hirsch Hill Estate 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasted: 26th May 2020
Have you visited the Yarra Valley in Victoria? Next time you’re in or around Melbourne (and there’s no Covid restrictions) do it! It’s an easy day trip being less than an hours drive from the city.
I can’t wait to visit the Yarra Valley again as our last trip was back in 2012.
Hirsch Hill Estate are located at the cooler northern end of the valley where they grow all their own fruit on the property and only hand harvest.
The Hirsch team recently sent me this sample (thank you!) of their 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon to taste. This one picked up 4.5 stars from Winestate Magazine.
In the glass it’s an alluring deep red. On the nose it’s so delicious, think black berries and black plum fruit drizzled with milk chocolate and a whiff of smooth oak. In the mouth it’s full bodied with a long lingering finish – it really warms up the cockles of your heart.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.

Hirsch Hill Estate 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasted: 20th March 2019 Introducing the Yarra Valley’s Hirsch Hill Estate wine! I recently received this sample of the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon from the Hirsch Hill team and not only did I find it extremely tasty but at $20 it’s a steal! The grapes are hand harvested on their estate in the Yarra Valley and it spends 18 months in French oak hogsheads. It’s expertly crafted by winemaker Rob Dolan. In the glass, it’s a deep brick red colour. When I give it a sniff it makes me think of blackcurrants and plums with a hint of savouriness – I’m thinking a beef burgundy pie. There’s also a bit of dark choccie in there and oak. I love the smell of this wine! In the mouth it’s juicy and thirst quenching with a super long finish. I great everyday red with oomph at an excellent price point! All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
