The 25 Swan Valley Sparkling Wines of Christmas 2014 – 9th December

Harris Organic Sparkling Shiraz - Travelling Corkscrew Wine Blog

Harris Organic Sparkling Shiraz

This is most definitely a crowd pleaser this red bubbly. It is 100% organic and is hand riddled and disgorged for premium quality. It sells for $39 at the Harris Organic Wines cellar door and has a crown cap closure. When chilled down to around 6 degrees Celsius it will make the perfect accompaniment to the christmas ham and roast meats. Plus it’s red which is totally a christmas colour. Perhaps leave a bottle in the fridge for Santa Claus to have a quick nip when he’s dropping off all those presents!

Wine Tasting Note

On the eye it’s a deep red-purple colour, virtually opaque. On the nose it is heavily fruit-driven with gorgeous aromas of fresh cherries (like the ones you get at Christmas time!), plums and vanilla. On the palate it is super smooth with those cherry flavours coming through mixed with wild blackberries. An absolute delight and I couldn’t imagine a better wine to match the BBQ food for Christmas day!

Christmas special

About Harris Organic Wines

Harris Organic is a small family owned winery at the top of the Swan Valley in Baskerville. Duncan Harris (originally from Tasmania) bought the property in 1998 while he was working as an engineer in Perth. His dream was always to run an organic vineyard and in 2000 the cellar door opened.

On the property is also an underground cellar to store the ageing wines at a cool temperature. By doing this, Duncan removed the need of artificial refrigeration. Duncan loves experimenting and due to this, he has also created a range of organic spirits such as an organic vodka and organic brandy.

The first sparkling wine that was made by Harris Organic was named “Madeleine Claire” after Duncan and Deb’s daughter.
