Freehand Wines 2017 Ruby Ruby Fortified Shiraz
It’s not often I indulge in fortified wine, however, it’s safe to say this Freehand Natural Wine 2017 ‘Ruby Ruby’ Shiraz fortified went down a treat! Naomi picked it up at the BeauVine wine festival in Perth to enjoy while we were in Sydney.
I’m a big fan of Freehand and I actually did a blog post back in 2014 on Freehand Wines and their preservative free wines.
Read more about preservative free wine.
I think the intro on the Freehand Wines website gives you a good idea about who and what Freehand do:
Made from estate grown organic/biodynamic grapes, with maximum attention, minimal intervention and no added preservatives.. giving nature a freehand”
After a couple of big days walking around Sydney, Naomi and I enjoyed a couple of glasses of this port-style wine. It went down very easily!
In the glass, it’s deep burgundy red with inviting red and black fruits of the forest on the nose. In the mouth it’s got a wonderful fruity nature with berries, cherries and baking spice. It’s not too heavy which makes it the perfect after-dinner treat in my opinion.
PS: I love, love, love the artwork on the bottle!
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #tcweekdaywine
