d’Arenberg The Olive Grove Chardonnay

Surprisingly this combo of the d’Arenberg ‘The Olive Grove’ 2017 Chardonnay from South Australia went really well with a square or two of this Whittakers Dark Salted Caramel chocolate. Who would have thought!

When looking up what the name meant I learnt that apparently there are a lot of olive trees in McLaren Vale, including in d’Arenberg’s Chardonnay vineyard, hence the name! I picked this bottle up for $15 from my local bottle shop.

This Chardy is a really tropical one with plenty of tropical fruit notes on the nose and in the mouth, it’s ultra smooth with particular flavours of tangerine for me. There’s some oak which is very neatly weaved into the fruitiness.
