Austin’s 2018 Chardonnay – Geelong, VIC
Introducing the Austin’s 2019 Chardonnay from the Moorabool Valley, Geelong VIC.
This $45 Chardonnay was Awarded Best White Wine of the 2019 Ballarat Wine Show. The grapes were hand picked, it spent time in French oak and only 7,400 bottles were produced. Plus it’s a vegan friendly wine!
A big thanks to the Austin’s team for this sample! Here’s what the TC tasting team thought:
It’s a shiny golden yellow colour in the glass. The nose evokes thoughts of oak, butter, sea salt, melon and popcorn. While in the mouth it is medium bodied and creamy with a lick of grapefruit acidity right at the back. It’s definitely got an acidity streak which suggests it’ll age well. However we also noticed once the wine warmed up a bit it really smoothed out. Incredibly moreish according to Mr Spittoon.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
