Wino Weekend Reading #2
Last week I began a weekly post (which I hope to continue!) which gives you fabulous lot some tasty wino articles, videos and image galleries to mull over the weekend. You can read Wino Weekend Reading #1 here.
Whether you browse in bed on Saturday morning on your iPad, or catch up on the latest wine goss over a cheeky wine or two on Sunday evening, I have pulled together some of my favourite pieces from the week.
So here’s a big cheers to the second Wino Weekend Reading edition!
The Drinks Business – WINE GLASS BEST FOR CHAMPAGNE, SAYS PERNOD
The debate continues as to which type of glass is best to serve Champagne in, whether it’s the Champagne flute (long skinny one), Champagne Coupe (small bowl type vessel on a stem) or a regular white wine glass. An interesting article which you can read more about it here. What I prefer? I love both the coupe for its antique elegance and the flute is just traditional to me. I am a huge fan of the tulip Champagne glasses, I think these are stunning and next on my list to buy!
If you check out the above post you’ll also find a link to the article: CHAMPAGNE COUPE MOULDED FROM KATE MOSS’S BREAST LAUNCHED – which is worth a read! Would you want to drink out of a glass moulded from Kate Moss’s breast??
The Australian – Hipster wines: A user’s guide
I thought this was a pretty cool article. It’s all about some of the more unusual grape varieties that you may see popping up at those trendy down town wine bars or perhaps you see them on the shelf at your local bottle shop and wonder what the heck it is.
The guide gives you all the important information you need on each variety; how to pronounce it (so you don’t look like a complete nonce to the waiter), where it’s from, what it tastes like and what food it goes well with. Read the full article here.
MSN Food & Drinks – Halloween Wine: Tricks and Treats
I love this very timely article. I’m not a biggie when it comes to Halloween but this article has hit the nail on the head for how wine lovers can celebrate the scary holiday. I actually think I want to try some of these out for myself! See more here.
Australian Bartender – Mechanics Institute team to open new Perth bar
There is a new bar set to open its doors shortly in Perth and I hear they’ll have a decent wine list! The peeps behind the Mechanics Institute have taken over The Court Wine Bar on Beaufort Street and will be giving it a bit of a political makeover and reopening it as The Dominion League (named after a party in the 30s that pushed for WA to separate from the Commonwealth). Read more here.
Hey Elisha, the link should be working 🙂
The Australian link didn’t open. I want to be a hipster too…..
