Thinking of a wine subscription? You must try this first!

Ever found yourself gazing at the bottle shop shelves, finding it hard to decide on a wine to buy? I sure have!
With so many options to choose from, what seems like a simple task can actually be tougher than you expect, especially if you’re trying to pick a wine for a special occasion or meal. I mean, you want something you’re going to enjoy, right?
So, it’s a good thing that you can eliminate that pressure by letting the experts help. That’s where a wine subscription comes in.
What is a wine subscription?
A wine subscription takes all that decision-making away by sending specially curated wine collections right to you, tailored to your tastes and interests. You don’t even need to leave the house! With a Wine Selectors subscription, you get detailed tasting notes with each delivery, so you can read up on all those wonderful flavours and aromas in your wines, and impress your friends with your newfound knowledge.
Still not sure a wine subscription is for you? That’s ok, because now you can trial a Wine Selectors experience. They are one of Australia’s most popular wine subscription services, and they’ve got a brand-new trial pack which introduces you to some of the delicious Aussie wines they offer. It’s called the Regional Selects Sampler Dozen.
Regional Selects Sampler Dozen
This collection is a great chance to see what all the fuss is about, with no ongoing commitments. The mixed collection contains 12 mini bottles of wine (187ml each – so about one glass of wine), and is a preview of one of Wine Selectors regular subscription options called the ‘Regional Cellar Door Release’, where each delivery explores a different Australian wine region.
There are some classic varieties included plus some exciting new discoveries, and the wines are from a mix of renowned, established producers and boutique wineries.
Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio are just some of the whites you’ll get to sample in this pack, while the reds include classic Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Pinot Noir and a Barossa Valley Shiraz.
Is a wine subscription worth it?
There are some fantastic benefits of a wine subscription. They offer great value, with prices below what you’d normally get at the bottle shop – at least 20% off bottle RRP. The convenience is also a massive drawcard. With a Wine Selectors subscription you can choose the style of pack that suits you and choose the frequency of delivery, so it’s really tailored to you. The Regional Cellar Door Release, for example, is available in white, red or mixed, and delivered every 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 weeks, depending on your needs. No more wandering the aisles with indecision!
It’s also a great opportunity to discover new varieties and regions that you’re not familiar with. You might just discover your new favourite drop!
Which wine clubs are best?
There are lots of wine subscription services and clubs out there, all with their own variations and offerings. You can find out about the various packs and services they offer by browsing their websites.
As I mentioned earlier, Wine Selectors is one of the most popular in Australia. They’ve been around for more than 45 years and they source their wines from over 500 wineries throughout our world-class wine regions. They only sell Australian wine, so it’s a great support of our local wine industry and a fantastic opportunity for customers to enjoy the many amazing wines being produced here.
You can also rest assured that you’re getting great quality wine, because each year the Wine Selectors expert Tasting Panel blind tastes and rates thousands of wines from all over Australia. They use the Australian Wine Show judging system, and only those that score a 15.5 out of 20 or above – Bronze medal standard – make it into their subscriptions.
How much is a wine subscription?
The prices will vary for an Australian wine subscription, depending on the service you choose, the frequency you get deliveries, the styles of wines you like, and more.
The Regional Selects Sampler Dozen that Wine Selectors is currently offering is a great chance to trial a subscription. It’s low cost – only $60 (RRP$120) + Free Shipping – and there are zero obligations, so there’s no commitment to sign up, but you’ll get a taste of what it’s like to see if it’s something you might like to do. It’s a win win.
What are the 12 different wines in the Regional Selects Sampler Dozen?
The pack has a great variety of wines from regions all throughout Australia. There’s Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc Semillon, Marsanne, Viognier, Rosato, Grenache, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. So, there’s really something for everyone.
Does anything else come with the collection?
The collection also includes comprehensive tasting notes and a copy of Selector, the leading life, food and wine magazine.
This is such a unique and exciting offer. It’s the best taste-tester before you start a wine subscription, because you get to start small and you’re trying such a wide variety of wines in this pack.

The wines included & my tasting notes:
Leconfield Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
In the glass it’s a juicy plum red colour. On the nose it’s rather earthy/forest like alongside having notes of blackberries, and vanilla oak. On the palate it’s fruity and fresh with plentiful black cherries and berry flavours. Nice full flavour without being overpowering. Balanced and delish!
Sam Miranda King Valley Dry Rosato 2021
Made from Sangiovese, Nebbiolo and Barbera grapes.
I found it a beautiful light peach colour in the glass. Fresh red berries, juicy thirst-quenching citrus and a hint of pretty florals come through on the nose. In the mouth it’s fresh and elegant and matched so well with our chorizo and roast veggie couscous salad.
Cassegrain Edition Noir Chardonnay 2021
It’s a pale yellow shade in the glass. Fresh guava, juicy pears and a hint of honeydew come through on the nose. It’s citrus driven with a refreshing minerality to it on the palate. More Chablis-like than Aussie Chardy.
Small Valley Vineyard 2021 Gumeracha Pinot Noir
It’s a bright cherry red colour in the glass. Fresh, juicy sweet red fruits and a hint of musk and spice escape from the glass. While in the mouth it’s extremely easy drinking with divine juicy strawberry and cherry flavour.
Trimboli Family Wines Saverio Mount Lofty Sangiovese 2021
It’s a pretty Ruby shade in the glass with a vibrant nose of sweet red berries, think raspberry, cranberry with a hint of red liquorice and cherries. In the mouth it’s full of juicy red berries and cherries, mirroring the aromas.
Soumah Single Vineyard Yarra Valley Viognier 2021
A pale yellow shade in the glass with aromas of apricots and nectarines with a hint of florals and musk candies. In the mouth it’s full of juicy flavour which mirrors the aromas. Delish!
Freeman Bianco Pinot Grigio 2021
It’s a super easy drinking Pinot Grigio which is full of zesty, juicy flavour. Think juicy pears, hints of florals, tangy lime and refreshing crunchy apples. It’s begging to be paired with a seafood dish.
Sorby Adams 2017 Jelllicoe Shiraz
It’s a wonderful dark cherry red colour in the glass. Aromas and flavours of blackberries, liquorice, mocha and cedar wood entertain them senses. Wonderful smooth texture and just the right amount of tannic oomph.
Irvine 2019 Springhill Merlot
It’s a juicy plum red colour in the glass. It has a vibrant nose of black plums and currants with a lick of sweet vanilla. In the mouth it’s ultra smooth and satisfying.
It’s fantastic isn’t it! Such a smart way to give people a taster of what a wine subscription would be like 🙂 Thanks for popping by the blog Lynn!
Gosh I wish the box could be sent to the EU… I live in France. Maybe put a bug in their ear for it!
