The Lake House 2015 Pinot Noir
After catching up in Sydney with Naomi at the start of the month she sent me home with this bottle of The Lake House 2015 Pinot Noir from WA’s Great Southern wine region. Actually, I was very happy that all 6 bottles in my checked-in luggage made it back to Victoria intact.
This Premium Reserve Denmark Pinot Noir ($45) is made from grapes from a single vineyard. We opted to enjoy it while watching Sabrina on Netflix and indulging in a couple of pieces of Cuvée Chocolate’s Amphora 65% Dark Chocolate.
If you haven’t tried this chocolate yet, then you need to stat! It’s specifically made to match wine. The recommended matches for the Amphora are Pinot Noir, Merlot, Grenache, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, GSM and Tawny Port.
Mr Spittoon and I thoroughly enjoyed this Pinot. Here are our notes..
Light brick in colour. Black cherries, a hint of liquorice and creamy vanilla come through on the nose with a slight whiff of earthy savouriness. In the mouth red currants laced with tannins come through with a pinch of white pepper and a vanillin chocolate finish. A great Netflix and wine combo!
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #tcweekdaywine
