The Australian Women in Wine Awards 2015
After Michelle Payne was the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup the other day I thought it would be a good time to give a bit of a holla to an upcoming event in Perth to celebrate women in the Australian wine industry. The first ever Australian Women in Wine Awards is taking place in just a few weeks and I’m excited!
Jane Thomson of The Fabulous Ladies Wine Society is the founder and chair of judges for the awards. Her mission is to celebrate women in the wine industry and gender fairness in the workplace. The judging panel is made up of a number of remarkable Aussie wine industry women.
Jane was awarded the Digital Wine Communicator of the Year award by the Wine Communicators of Australia in 2013. So it’s no surprise that the official awards night on Tuesday 17th of November 2015 is going to be virtually celebrated around Australia, another first of its kind for such an event. That’s right, there’s no big fancy gala night at X location, instead there’ll be various cocktail events throughout the country taking place with the awards streamed onto large screens so everyone has the opportunity to attend and mingle with their local women in wine. And drink exceptional wine of course 😉
I can’t wait for the Perth event as the wine industry in WA has been simply buzzing with excitement and I wish our two local ladies the best of luck. Joanne Bradbury of 3 Drops Wines is a finalist in the Owner/Operator of the Year Category and Dianne Laurance of Laurance Wines is a finalist in the Workplace Champion of Change category. Good luck!
The Perth event is presented by the lovely Maddie from Poppin Cork Events, if you haven’t got your ticket yet you can still buy tickets right here.
