The 25 Swan Valley Sparkling Wines of Christmas 2014 – 18th December

This is my go-to sparkling wine and it pretty much has been since I touched down in Perth. For $24 it is an absolute steal and it is such a crowd-pleaser! I am always left with the task of choosing the wine for everyone and when everyone’s tastes are so diverse or I’m unsure what people drink I think 9 times out of 10 everyone will love this wine. It’s a safe option! And for that 1 who maybe doesn’t like it, well bad luck for them.. I’ll drink their glass quite happily!

Hence why I think a bottle or two, well why not just make it a case, would be an awesome Christmas gift for any sparkling wine lover. You can drink it quite easily (maybe too easily) by itself or it matches up with everything from seafood to white meat to vegetarian dishes and cheese platters. I may even admit to drinking quite a bit of this whilst chowing down on lollies. Yep my Bridget Jones moments!!

If you haven’t already, make sure you sign up for one of the Sparkling Workshops at Sittella, winemakers Yuri and Colby really know their stuff when it comes to sparkling wines. Wine Tasting Note

On the eye it’s a gorgeous silver and yellow tinsel colour. The nose is simply divine, I could smell it all day with its aromas of Danish pastries, honeydew melon, minerals, citrus and floral notes. As mentioned above it is just so delightful to drink, I love the flavours of candied lemon and apples. It’s so fresh, vibrant and easy drinking. Great value for money which means it’s the perfect bubbles to stock up on to drink all through the festive season + the Sittella birds on the label look so pretty and almost like a Christmas decoration!

About Sittella Winery

It was the French passion for wine and food that captured the hearts of Simon and Maaike Bern when they were traveling through France in the 80s.

The couple purchased the Herne Hill property and began producing wine for family and friends to start with. By 1998 the Bern’s wanted to turn their passion into a business and opened up the cellar door and restaurant. Their son, Yuri has since graduated from Curtin University in viticulture and oenology.

The team at Sittella are absolutely lovely, everyone is super friendly and knowledgable plus they run educational workshops throughout the year which are great fun.
