Scopone 2012 Brunello di Montalcino
Hands up if you love Italian wine?
If that’s a then you may want to give Romulus Wine a quick follow.
Romulus Wine Selectors specialise in bringing Italian wine into Australia and they kindly sent me a couple of samples from their range to sip, savour and bring back memories from our Italian adventures back in 2011. Thank you guys!
This bottle of Scopone 2012 Brunello di Montalcino I snuck a sip of using my brand new gifted Coravin (check out the video on the blog). To later that day properly opening to have with Mr Spittoon’s delish Spaghetti Bolognese.
In the glass you can tell it has a bit of age on it with its red-y brown brick colour. On the nose it’s wonderfully aromatic, think stewed fruits, plums, wood, earthiness and mushrooms. It has a nice savouriness to it on the nose and in the mouth but there’s still plenty of fruit too. It definitely opened up over time in the decanter.
We may not be able to travel to Italy right now. But I was transported their in my glass.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
