Does anyone else decide what they’re going to eat based on the wine they want to drink? That’s how I tend to roll. I picked up this Pandemonium Estate 2013 Shiraz & Tempranillo earlier in the year from their cellar door and thought it’d be a tasty match for some home cooked paella.
On our recent Melbourne trip, our lovely host pulled this New Zealand Riesling out of the cellar and wow! It’s 10 years old from the Marlborough region and is produced by Riverby Estate. It had those aged Riesling characteristics yet still plenty of freshness to suggest it still has some years left in it.
I’m definitely a Chardonnay kind of girl and I have to admit I’m loving the local Gippsland Chardy’s! We bought this Lightfoot & Sons Wines 2016 Chardonnay for $28 (we also bought one of the Lightfoot & Sons rosés which is very good too!). This Chardonnay is a great chilled out Saturday afternoon wine in my opinion!

So apparently yesterday (August 13th) was National Prosecco Day. How did I miss that?! Yes, it’s another US inspired wine day that we are just going to have to make international okay.
If you haven’t come across Myattsfield Vineyards in the Perth Hills yet, you’re missing out! I picked up this 2015 Semillon on a visit to the cellar door as I couldn’t get enough of it. I would have loved to have held onto this bottle for a few more years, but alas I’m impatient!
