If you haven’t come across Myattsfield Vineyards in the Perth Hills yet, you’re missing out! I picked up this 2015 Semillon on a visit to the cellar door as I couldn’t get enough of it. I would have loved to have held onto this bottle for a few more years, but alas I’m impatient!
The grapes were sourced from 3 different vineyards in the Perth Hills for this wine. One of those vineyards was planted back in the excellent year of 1986. This wine has seen time in oak alongside having had a bit of lees stirring action. These winemaking techniques help with the aromatics and texture of the wine. Right now the wine is super fresh but if you can hold onto it for a few more years it’ll become nice and toasty & rich.
My tasting note: It’s a pale yellow colour in the glass. Hints of lanolin, floral grassiness, gooseberry and lime skin citrus rise from the glass. While in the mouth it’s creamy with bright acidity. It’s a dry, crisp and incredibly refreshing wine.\
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy! #tcweekdaywine
Have you tried this Semillon? What did you think?

I have had very few rosé wines made from Nebbiolo – from those I’ve had though, they have been fantastic. 3drops from Western Australia do a great Nebbiolo Rose and now I have another one to add to the list – introducing the Tar & Roses Heathcote 2019 Nebbiolo Rosè. A big thank you to Narelle King the…
If you’re familiar with the restaurant scene in Sydney then this bottle of Loluk Sparkling Brut may ring a bell. This bubbles has been produced purely for the Surry Hills French restaurant Loluk Bistro Sydney and I’ve heard whispers that they may actually start to sell it online in the near future.
Vermentino is where it’s at peeps. If you’re a newbie to this grape variety then this Empirica by Castelli Estate Wines 2018 Vermentino is a great one to start with. But buy at least 2 bottles as 1 bottle is definitely not enough. A big thanks to Castelli from the Frankland River in WA’s Great…
