I haven’t completed all of the below personally, however the ones that I haven’t – are high on my wish list. World of Wine: From Grape to Glass – University of Adelaide
Price: Free
Certificate: Yes – you can pay for a shareable verified certificate for $275
Time to complete: It’s self-paced however they recommend to do it over 6 weeks (2-3 hours per week)
Level: Beginner – Passionate Consumer
Perk: You get to make your own wine virtually!
I completed this online wine course in 2015 and I loved it. It’s absolutely free to do and it’s been put together by the University of Adelaide – which of course is a highly reputable source here in Australia.

Online Wine Tasting Course with Anna Maria Kambourakis
Price: US$69.99
Certificate: No
Time to complete: It’s self-paced and includes over 1 hour of video content (broken into bite size pieces) and 50+ lessons

I was recently invited by Anna Maria to try out her course and be an affiliate partner and I must say for a busy person like myself, the bite size lessons of her brand new online wine tasting course were absolutely perfect!
Anna Maria is a certified sommelier, wine blogger and owns and operates a wine tour company in Crete. So it’s safe to say she knows her stuff when it comes to wine! She explains even the most technical wine terms in easy to understand ways.

WSET Global Online Wine Courses

Perk: A WSET qualification is industry recognised around the world so if you plan to work in the wine industry, this is definitely the institution to go with
Thanks to Covid, so much more is available online to do now. And this includes the world renowned Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET) courses. I completed my level 2 & 3 WSET certificates when I was living and working in Dubai in the early 2010s. I did in-classroom courses which my work at the time paid for, however I am so happy to see that you can do many of their certificates online now.

Become a Champagne Expert with Comité Champagne
Price: Class = Free and Premium = 49€

I haven’t yet done these specialised champagne online courses but they are high on my to do list! Comité Champagne is the regional public body of the Champagne region in France. Their courses are to help people around the world become experts on Champagne to better taste, present and sell Champagne.
It’s aimed at those working in the wine industry although many passionate wine lovers from around the world have completed the courses too.
The Classic course is absolutely free to do and the Premium course is 49€ (approx. AU$78). Once you have successfully completed the Premium course you will receive the MOOC statement of completion.

Wine Folly Online Wine Courses

Perk: Once you have. bought it, you’ll always have access to the latest version
If you haven’t heard of Wine Folly, then you need to get acquainted stat. I actually did an online interview with Madeline Puckette the Sommelier and founder of Wine Folly back in 2014 and I also have a couple of her books. She is a fantastic educator in the world of wine and I have no doubt her online wine courses will be worth the money.
From a Wine 101 course to group Wine Styles Tasting Courses and a couple of regional and wine country courses – you have a few wine courses to choose from on the Wine Folly website.
James Suckling Online Wine Masterclasses
Price: From AU$276 for an annual membership
Certificate: No
Time to complete: Self-paced
Level: Beginner – Intermediate
Perk: Learn from renowned American wine critic who has tasted over 200,000+ wines
If you have read about wine, then you have probably come across the name James Suckling. He is an American wine critic and journalist and he is part of the Masterclass platform which includes a wide variety of trainers.
James teaches wine appreciation and from what I understand, if you sign up for a monthly subscription (billed annually) you then have access to all the content across the platform.
