McWilliams Stolen Colt 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon
I left this tasting note up to the boys in the house seeing as this new range from McWilliam’s Wines has a male focus.
“Stolen Colt is a celebration of the tenacious spirit of founder Samuel McWilliam, who overcame the hardship of having his horses taken during the bandit county of 1877 and establishing an eight-acre vineyard from which these delicious wines are made.”
There’s this Cab Sauv and also a Shiraz in the range, both retailing for $16. The grapes are sourced from the Riverina region in New South Wales.
Thanks to Dialogue PR we nabbed some media samples to taste. So what did Mr Spittoon and Crackle think? Well Crackle is not big on his wine, but it’s safe to say Mr Spittoon gave it a good run.
In the glass it’s a deep berry plum colour. There’s plenty of aromas that waft out of the glass from dark fruits to spice, leather and coffee beans. And I’m the mouth there’s vanilla and blackcurrants with plenty of oomph. There’s also a nice lingering toffee after taste.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
