Happs Three Hills 2018 Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Franc is the ‘other Cabernet’ that you may hear less about, but it’s one tasty variety! It’s quite often blended in a Bordeaux style red blend, however it’s also vinified on its own like this Three Hills 2018 from Happs Wines in WA’s Margaret River region.
I received this one as a free gift (thank you!!). It retails for $38 and only 70 dozen have been produced. The grapes were handpicked and the wine was aged in one-year old French oak on lees for 9 months prior to being bottled.
We found it a juicy ruby red colour in the glass with a wonderful aroma of fresh blackberries, raspberries, a hint of pepper and earthiness. Those berries and savouriness flow through to the mouth with soft tannins. Super consumable.
This wine was sent to me as a sample, I was under no obligation to post about it.
