I was kindly sent the Coravin Pivot to test out (thank you so much to the lovely team at Coravin for this opportunity!) – and like the Coravin Model 6, I have fallen in love with it instantaneously.

From the unboxing to the pouring of the wine, to then drinking the same wine a few weeks later (and it still tasting just as it did on the first night!), I am absolutely crushing on this new ‘wine toy’.
I have no doubt it is going to be on many wine-lovers Christmas lists this year as it combines Coravin’s award-winning patented technology with affordability.
Keen to see how to use the Coravin Pivot? Here is a video I have created just for you:
So let’s learn more about the Coravin Pivot and if it’s right for you:
What does the Coravin Pivot do?
In a nut shell, it is a wine preservation system which helps you keep your wine for longer. In fact by using the Coravin Pivot, it can extend the life of your wine for up to 4 weeks. What the device does, is it adds a blanket of argon gas over the wine to protect it from oxygen (which kills the wine).
Is argon gas safe?
Yes! It’s completely safe. In tech speak, it’s ‘nontoxic and largely inert’. This is food-grade argon gas which is used when the wine is made. Yep, that’s right, winemakers add argon gas at the end of the bottling process to prevent oxidation and preserve the wuality of the wine.
How long will the Coravin Pivot keep your wine fresh?
Up to 4 weeks. Yay! Goodbye through the other half of the bottle down the sink because you don’t want to drink it all in one go.
Is it easy to use?
Super easy! You literally read through the Quick Start Guide as shown in the picture below and once you’ve read it, you’ll be pouring your first glass. The instructions are super easy to follow and consume.
Basically you take the screw cap off or cork out of the bottle, replace with the Pivot Stopper. You then insert the Pivot device, tip the bottle and press the button on the back of the Pivot device to disburse the wine. Once poured you then, close the stopped and store the bottle somewhere cool, standing upright. Ta da!
Will it fit all wine bottles?
Yes! The special Pivot Stoppers are the perfect fit for any still wine bottle. It will provide an airtight seal to keep the freshness (and argon gas) in.
When would you use a wine preservation system like the Pivot?
It’s the perfect device to use if you don’t want to consume an entire bottle and want to keep the remainder of the bottle fresh for a later date. Perhaps you want to match different wines to different courses for an at home degustation menu, perhaps you want to sample a wine to work out what might be a good food match with various dishes, maybe you’re a wine blogger like myself and you want to write your notes and then later consume the rest of the bottle. So many reasons.
How much is a Coravin Pivot?
The Coravin Pivot is $185 and the Pivot+ is $230. The Pivot+ comes with the Pivot Aerator attachment, which you can see pictured below.
I am hoping the attachment will be sold separately so I can buy it for my Pivot.
Does the Pivot come in different colours?
It most certainly does! I have the grey one, as you’ll see in my videos and pictures however it also comes in black, teal and coral. Check out the different coloured Pivot’s here.
However please note, the Pivot+ only comes in black.
What comes in the box?
The Coravin Pivot device obviously. However you also receive 2 Pivot Stoppers and 1 Coravin Capsule. Scroll to the bottom of this post to see a quick (I am talking 20 seconds!) unboxing video.
As you can tell, I am a bit obsessed already with my new wine toy. If you have any questions, please drop them below in the comments and I will respond as soon as I can.
In the mean time, cheers and happy wine-drinking lovely people!
Hi Jacqueline,
Thanks for your message and you’re correct I did have a couple of issues. It seems like I just needed to twist and put a bit more force into putting the stopper in. Perhaps if you’re still having issues, get in touch with Coravin https://www.coravin.com.au/en-AU/support/customer-service-au who can give you some more advice. I hope other than this, you’re loving Pivot!
Cheers,
Casey
Hi Casey
I just bought a coravin+ and am having trouble keeping the bottle stopper on. I tried to insert it in a Yering bottle which is a screw cap but it keeps popping up. I noticed you were having the same issues in your demonstration video and wondered whether you have any tips on how to keep the lid on. Thanks in advance, Jacqueline
How fantastic is that aerator attachment! It’s on my Christmas wish list 🙂 We love our regular Coravin too, it’s so fantastic to be able to experience how a wine tastes over time. Thanks for stopping by the blog Robin.
You’re most welcome. They really are very cool devices – amazing technology! Thanks for stopping by the blog Allison 🙂
We’ve considered getting a Coravin for a while and go back and forth on whether it’s worth it — and whether we ever won’t finish a bottle of wine ;). A great overview giving us much to consider!
Okay, I really love how the aerator attachment makes it look like a garden watering can! I have friends who love the pivot. I have yet to invest. We still have our regular Coravin for those special bottles and I love it!
The new colors are really pretty!
