6 Reasons Why Weekday Wine Drinking is Good for YOU!
I have been looked down at, given the ‘OMG I can’t believe you do that’ look and I’ve had various other judgements made about my weekday drinking.
And yes, before you ask I still can’t admit this to my doctor. I always go for ‘oh a couple on the weekend’. But I’m leaving that behind me, I’m coming out to say that I’m proud about my weekday wine drinking
So after much deliberation on whether I should write this blog post and if I should put it out there to the world I thought I better do my research. Based on the theory of moderation is the key, I decided to look into WHY weekday wine drinking could be good for us. So without further ado, here are 6 (of the many) reasons (excuses) why we should participate in a little weekday wine drinking..

Wine is good for you!
This is not a joke. The rule of thumb is that wine is good for you daily as long as it’s in moderation.A great article on how red wine is good for the heart can be found on the HONcode standard for trustworthy health information Mayo Clinic website here.

Weekday wine specials!
Oh yes, I do love this one! For the money conscious (i.e. those with a mortgage or on a major budget like mwah) this is the perfect excuse to be drinking midweek. From happy hours to lunch deals, you can really grab a bargain. Beaufort Street is where I have been hitting up recently with Must Wine Bar’s $80 2-course lunch and wine for 2 or Clarence’s and Five Bars super-duper weeknight specials like, shank and Shiraz Tuesday at Clarence’s for $25. I asked some of the local foodie bloggers on twitter the best places to find out the deals, check out their responses here.

Wine is social!
Sometimes we can get too caught up in routine, or we get lazy and can’t be bothered socialising after a day at work. Push yourself people! It’s healthy to be out in amongst people or enjoying a wine or three at home with great company.

Wine promotes team-building!
Yep that’s right, a couple of laughs and chit-chatter with the workmates after work can improve work morale and team building. Just check out my post on doing a cocktail class with colleagues here.

Wine makes you slow down and take a break!
If you’re one of those people that’s always on the go and never knows when to switch off, wine can help! Wine is not a drink you skull down (typically) it’s a drink you want to sit back, sip on and enjoy! Or in my case, in a nice hot bubble bath with my iPod!

Wine can make you more creative!
I love this infographic about beer & coffee, it makes a great point – ‘when alcohol hits your cerebral cortex, you feel less focused but it frees up your brain from all the distractions that normally occupy it”. Enough said.
I think those are some pretty good reasons to pour yourself a wine during the week!
What are your thoughts on weekday wine drinking? Do you think it’s a good or bad thing? Leave a comment below and while you’re at it, why not pour yourself another glass of vino, you deserve it!

Haha I know exactly what you mean Haley!
I try not to, but the only reason is that if we do we go through so much wine! I’m not worried about having a drink any day (or time!) of the week
You nailed it Darby!!! I’ve updated the post accordingly as Mondays definitely count 🙂
Does Monday night count as “mid-week”? I thin it should!
