3drops Great Southern Pinot Noir (2017 & 2018)
3drops 2018 Pinot Noir
Tasted 28 April 2019
Have you tried the 3drops 2018 Great Southern Pinot Noir that was released in Feb yet?
The lovely Jo from 3drops sent me over a bottle to taste which I enjoyed out of my beautiful Riedel Pinot Noir glass. The curves on those wine glasses are so sexy.
2018 was a great vintage in WA’s Great Southern region with the perfect climate to produce stunning Pinot like this one.
If you’re not already aware, the 3drops name refers to 3 of life’s most precious liquids – wine, olive oil and water.
This 18 Pinot is a must try for all Pinot lovers – team it with some charcuterie and you’ll be in heaven! From it’s ruby red colour to wild strawberries, currants and a hint of smokiness on the nose. The palate is juicy, smooth and has that perfect balance of fruitiness and spice. If you have the willpower and can put away a few bottles into the cellar for a few years, it’ll be well worth it for those earthy/savoury characters that’ll develop
$32 a bottle via 3drops.com/shop

3drops 2017 Pinot Noir
Tasted 19 August 2018
Yesterday was International Pinot Noir Day and naturally, in the lead-up, I did some practising. This 2017 3drops wine and olive oil Great Southern Pinot Noir was released earlier in the year.
The fruit comes from vines which were planted in 1982 in WA’s Great Southern Wine Region. The wine spends time in French oak and was awarded 93 points from Ray Jordan recently.
My tasting note: It’s a ruby red colour in the glass with fresh cherries, a hint of blackberry and a warming spice to it on the nose. In the mouth it’s fruit forward with refreshing acidity and a lengthy finish. This Pinot is a bit of a cherry bomb if you ask me.
