Travelling Corkscrew Named Perth’s 10th Hottest Food Blog in 2015!!
On Australia Day, local Perth blogger, Chomp Chomp released the list of Perth’s Hottest 100 Food Blogs 2015 and I made the cut! Actually I made it to number 10 which I am over the moon about. Yep that’s right Perth, we are a total bunch of winos!
The list is put together based off each blogs Alexa ranking. How Alexa come up with your blog/website rank is based on a number of factors. Basically the company works to estimate the amount of unique users and page views of a particular site over a rolling 3 month period. To do this, they analyse the behaviour of a global data panel which is meant to represent all internet users. It’s an interesting algorithm to look into and read about and it really shows bloggers and website owners the importance of uploading quality fresh content as often as you can. This is obviously also something that Google loves too. You can read more about how Alexa rankings are determined here.
To be included in the list is, simply fantastic and it’s all of you who I need to thank! Seeing as I focus on wine rather than food, being a Kiwi who has made Perth home in the last 3 years and I have a day job in online marketing. Well I couldn’t be more proud to get a bit of recognition for my hobby. A HUGE thank-you all for your support and visiting this wee bit of web real estate.
So what’s to come on the TC wine blog in 2015 you ask…?
- Blog post frequency: Last year I aimed high, I was posting 3 times a week and it was tough. Between focusing on my role as an Online Marketing Account Manager in the SEO industry and the dramas which made me stop blogging altogether in September. I got to a point where I felt like I was getting a bit lost and stressed. I was so busy and despite having top-notch organisation skills, I wanted to sit back and smell the wine for a minute. So this year it’s all about taking my time, working on quality content and enjoying it! So I’m not aiming to post X amount of times a week. When I come up with a brilliant blog topic or someone requests something then you’ll see it right here.
- Blog topics: Recently I became more dedicated to my role as a ‘Perth Blogger’. Being a Kiwi, it’s sometimes hard to admit that Australia is fast becoming my 2nd home. From the first moment I stepped into the Swan Valley, I fell in love and it’s been the source of inspiration for the blog over the past 3 years. And the Swan Valley was only the tip of the iceberg, with the Margaret River, Perth Hills and further afield wine regions capturing my attention. I love Western Australia! So much so, Mr. Spittoon and I are building a house. So what was the move to become more of a Perth-ite you ask? I changed my blog address to add a .com.au on to the end. This is telling the world that it’s an Aussie focused blog. And I guess that’s where my blog topics are going. All things to do with Aussie wines and wineries as well as a good mix of wine education.
- Social Media: As you all know, I am a bit of a social media addict! I’ll be continuing to post to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Google+ in 2015 (links top left of the page) and of course I will be endorsing the use of my 2 hashtags #TCWineBlog and #TCWeekdayWine. I particularly love the latter, with everyone getting onboard and using it, my wine shopping list is getting out of control!
Over the past couple of years, I have done some pretty cool blog projects. From the 365 wines in 2013 to the 25 Swan Valley Sparkling Wines of Christmas. In 2015, I’ll be using my newly found laid-back blogging approach to bring you even more fun and creative wine-y ramblings and I really hope you all enjoy reading them with a glass of wine in hand of course! I want this blog to become more of a community where we all share our love for wine and Western Australia.

Thank-you! I am so glad that I’m representing all the wine lovers out there too 🙂 Yes it was a bit of a scary incident last year, but I haven’t let it get me down. I am still weary but at the end of the day you shouldn’t let one horrible person ruin what you love to do. Thank you for your support!
