The 25 Swan Valley Sparkling Wines of Christmas 2014 – 22nd December
Mann 2012 Brut Sparkling
I haven’t had the chance to visit the Mann winery yet, I typically stock up from Chateau Guildford where I bought this bottle for around the $30 mark. The 2012 Brut is made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes so it is a blush style bubbles which is made in the traditional French Champagne method.
The grapes are all grown on the property in Upper Swan and hand produced.
Tasting Note
I think the colour is absolutely beautiful on this bubbles, it’s that lovely pale blush colour which is somewhere between a peach and rose-gold colour.
The aromas were very alluring with notes of strawberries, vanilla, cherries and crisp pink-lady apples. On the palate it is incredibly elegant with cherry flavours coming through alongside red-currants and barbecued grapefruit. It has a nice clean finish.
Pop a couple of bottles of this bubbles while you’re doing your Christmas baking and I am sure you’ll be singing along to those Christmas carols in no time!
About Mann Wines in the Swan Valley
Mann is a small vineyard which sits on the Swan River in Baskerville (Upper Swan). The winery produced 2 styles of sparkling wine made in the traditional French method of Methode Champenoise. Aside from the sparkling mentioned in this post, Mann also produce a sparkling from Cygne Blanc which is a patented White Cabernet variety, bred and developed on Mann property in the Swan Valley.
This year, Mann released a few cases of rose to the public however it sold out fairly quick. If there is enough fruit harvested in 2015, they may produce this wine again. We’ll have to wait and see!
Dorham Mann is the winemaker and owner of Mann Wines, he is the son of the legendary Jack Mann of the Swan Valley.
