Swan Valley Accommodation: The Colony @ Mandoon Estate
If you’re looking for some luxe Swan Valley accommodation, I have the place for you! On our recent trip back to Perth for the Swan Valley Wine Awards, we thought we’d cut the need to Uber to and from the venue and just stay the venue! The Colony at Mandoon Estate opened in December 2017, so it’s brand spanking new and I’d definitely class it as ‘luxury Swan Valley accommodation’. Here’s an inside look…
Mr Spittoon and I opted for a standard, ground floor room which put us back about $225 for the night. It’s literally a hop, skip and a jump from the Mandoon Estate cellar door, Homestead Brewery and fine-dining restaurant – Wild Swan. We are yet to dine at Wild Swan, but I hear the degustations are pretty amazing! Even if you are a local, I think a stay-cation at Mandoon, complete with degustation, would make for a great little getaway for a special occasion.
The Room
As mentioned we went for a Deluxe Room on the ground floor. This is the cheapest of the room types you can opt for. If you stay during off-peak times and book early you can potentially grab these rooms for $169 per night, which is pretty decent.
There are also various accommodation packages you can snap up through the Mandoon Estate website.
I was really impressed with the room. It was nice and clean and very modern. There were also some lovely little touches which you can see in the photos below. The amenities are on point and I have no hesitation in recommending this Swan Valley accommodation to anyone who wants to splash a little cash on their stay in the Valley.
Breakfast is not included in the rate. However, this didn’t matter to us as we had already organised to meet friends at Padburys in Guildford for brekky the next morning.
The location of The Colony is lovely. As we were getting ready for the gala dinner, it was a nice quiet location. Very peaceful and serene on the banks of the Swan River with Verdelho grapevines out the back. These vines were planted in 1895, so it’s safe to say you’re surrounded by some pretty impressive Swan Valley history when staying at Mandoon Estate.
I would have loved to stay a couple of nights, rather than just one, so we could have gone for some more strolls around the property and really soaked up the location. Next time!

Having been a resident of Caversham for 3+ years, it’s safe to say this Perth suburb is a hub for wine and food lovers. It’s also a great base to explore the rest of the Swan Valley and Perth from without the hustle and bustle of the city.
